1. Trump’s £1m season

Judd Trump has made snooker history by becoming the first player to win more than £1m in prize money in a single season.

The 29-year-old secured his first World Snooker Championship title on Monday after an 18-9 win in the final against John Higgins at The Crucible in Sheffield.

Pocketing a first prize of £500,000 Trump may plan for a big blow-out with his winnings.

2. Suarez will respect Anfield fans

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez says he will not celebrate tonight should he score against former club Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final second leg. Suarez celebrated his goal in Barca’s 3-0 first-leg win, but ahead of the Anfield clash he said: “I’m grateful to Liverpool and obviously if I score [on Tuesday] I won’t celebrate like I did at Camp Nou, just as I didn’t when I returned to other teams I have played for in my career.” (ESPN)

3. Salah and Firmino out

4. Haskell to retire

Northampton Saints flanker James Haskell will retire from rugby union at the end of the season. The 34-year-old former England international said: “I have loved every minute of my career in rugby and feel very privileged to have played with and against some exceptional players.” (BBC)

5. Casillas leaves hospital

Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been discharged from hospital after suffering a heart attack in training last Wednesday. When asked about his future the Spanish World Cup winner, 37, said: “The most important thing is to be here.” (BBC)

6. Tiger receives Medal of Freedom

Donald Trump awarded Tiger Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a ceremony on Monday at the White House in Washington. US golfer Woods won the Masters last month, his 15th career major. (Sky News)

7. Folau’s ‘high level’ breach of contract

An independent panel has ruled that Israel Folau committed a “high level” breach of his Rugby Australia contract. In April the Australian rugby union star posted social media messages saying “hell awaits” gay people. (7 News)

8. Leeds sack Furner

Head coach David Furner has been sacked by rugby league team Leeds Rhinos after their poor start to the season. Leeds director of rugby Kevin Sinfield said: “This was a very difficult decision and not one we have taken lightly.” (The Guardian)

9. Two new Fifa awards for women

The 2019 Best Fifa Football Awards will feature two new accolades for women footballers. The Best Fifa Women’s Goalkeeper and the Fifa FIFPro Women’s World11 will be named on 23 September in Milan.

10. Murray wild card for Queen’s

The Queen’s Club has reserved a wild card for Andy Murray for the 2019 Fever-Tree Championships from 17-23 June. Murray is recovering from hip surgery but is yet to announce if he will return to tennis. (Daily Mail)
